Hi

My new best VTTC i have made :D

Specs are -

Primary 30 turns
feedback 15 turns
grid resistor 3.3Kohm
grid capacitor 1.4 nF
tank capacitor 740 pF
Supply MOT Full wave rectified + 1uF smoothing capacitor .
secondary topload is base from a small coke can .

Secondary is 9cm total Hight , 5cm diamiter and has around 6cm worth of windings with 0.125mm wire and then coverd in insulation tape as it all i have on hand . Output arc is just above 4" long ( 10 - 11cm Long ) on a previouse secondary that was abit taller i got 13cm arcs . Anode heating is there but not that bad . probably could do with more tuning .

But i love the bushy output from full wave supply :D and as this is my second coil im really happy with results .

Link2 here a quick video of it running .

Beautiful result! Is the 811a not turning red?

Thanks :) , anode will turn a light red after 15 seconds using this secondary befor i remade secondary it would run cooler probaly need abit of tuning again , at full power main isseue is secondary heating , under halfwave operation it wasnt not that bad . but CW it gets hot fast .

Power input is 4.5 amps @ 230 V so just over 1Kw In .

This is my coil. The regulation works really perfect, the output of the MOT can be regulated between 1750V (tube light red) and 1000 V (tube can work for hours).

Nice :) , I just use my variac to addjust mine . I plan to maker a wider primary and retune and then interupt coil with a mosfet in cathode - ground connection .

Very nice coil !

I just built one with specs close to yours, but running halfwave, and I also have problems with secondary and tube heating at full power ...

Hi ,

Nice Coil There :) , I have changed mine back to halfwave as running full wave i was getting arc overs from primary to secondary .

I now pulse the coil on and off via a mosfet in cathode - ground connection and i have no anode redding and secondary only gets warm :) and it still pushes 4" Arcs :D

Thanks :D , Yeah staccato is great little thing , im just using a single 555 timer and mosfet to puls coil , works great .
