Practical but quite expensive. TSC sell the same size of cores for 15USD per half-core which is less than a quarter of the price from RS. Even though shipping from the US is more expensive, I don't think you'd have to buy many of them from TSC to make it worthwhile. It's a bit unclear if the RS item you linked to is one core half or a pair, but if it's a pair then it's just twice as expensive as TSC, and might turn out cheaper in the end if you factor in shipping. In that case it wouldn't be a bad deal.

Edit: The datasheet specifies it as a "core set" so there's a fair chance that the price is for a pair.

The N27 cores are a lot cheaper.

I spoke to one of the sales team, James, who told me prices are for single c cores, not sets. So they are pretty expensive, but, as you say, shipping from the US isn't cheap.
