Hello everyone.
I'm new to this forum, but i've been following you since a lot of time.
My english is not one of the best around, but i hope you understand what i write.
Anyway, today i'm showing you my royer ZVS driver.
I'm showing it, just because i any tips about it is apreciated.

Yesterday, when trying it for the first time i had some problem.
The risonance capacitor, after a while starts running very hot, enough hot to lose is form and start swelling.

Since i can't set any kind of dissipator on the capacitor, what can i do for lowering his temperature while running?
Another problem is also the flyback tranformator, in fact, when it started running (5+5), the windings (normal 1mm wire), has literally liquefied
and again, i would also like to know some furter use of the zvs driver, because until now, i've only heated up nails and tried some spark with the flyback.
My supply is gave by my homemade 15A 1.5-39V Psu

ZVS spechs
MOSFETS : IRFP 250
CAPACITOR: 0.82 uF 400V
INDUCTANCE; about 95 uH

A photo is available here:

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
as for the capacitor, use a MKP/FKP type one (polypropylene foil).

Hi.
Thanks for the answer.
My last capacitor, was mkp, but it burned as well :(
Anyway, i heard that i can make a transformer drived with the royer..
is that true?

I have just noticed that the absorb has increased from 10-12A to overo 20...
Why that?
The flyback, still emits some spark, but it's very thin and short, while the induction heater doesn't even work anymore.
What could be the problem?

Make a MMC array for the resonat capacitor i used 6 Capacitors on mine 3 strings in parralel of 2 in series for .8 uF Cap , Could run at 30 - 50 Volts for a while with no heating at all really .

Sounds like a cooked flyback when you get it working again you could use it to run a small SGTC I was able to get 15cm streamers from mine

Is actually convenient to use a array of capacitors instead of one?
Do they split the charge?
Anyway, do you think that the problem here is the capacitor?
I was thinking so to, but, how can i be sure?

Well i guess its the same with a tesla coil a MMC is better as each capaitor has to disspate less heat . on my ZVS with 3 stings of 2 capacitors the was less power passing though one capacitor so it shared out though all the caps reducing heating and losses .

I think thats right .
