I wouldnt normally post links to this site but there are numerous alternate sources including BBC News and the original papers.
Essentially the issues with fertility drugs getting into the water supply are 100 times worse with antidepressants. Perhaps this is why autism has increased in recent years, after all the developing brain is much more sensitive than those who take these drugs as a "cure" for depression etc.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is found that schizophrenia in adulthood as well as OCD and ADHD can be linked back to early exposure to these compounds.
Hate to say it but the more medicated we become the worse the contamination gets. Its a side effect of high population density which could go a long way towards explaining how mental illness increases in large cities where waste water is routinely reprocessed (ie London)
Also, a regular water filter won't help (much), these compounds get through pretty much anything. Only way to stop them would be distillation which uses too much power to be practical.
