I found this interesting, Link2
Apparently some people are paid to control online reputation of certain companies or countries.

Another article from pcworld about it.
I wonder if there are any here.

I doubt we see much of that here on 4hv, but I do often delete comments on my website that is clearly advertising, product placement or the like, but written by a human, not a bot.

I remember when I went to a trade show, and I got 30 dollars worth of free samples of a product. Yes, I do use it, as it is an acne treatment, (but its acne treatment doesn't work, though it does make my face brighter). Thing is, they were asking me to go and post a comment on their website to endorse their product. Of course, I never did. She was clearly asking me to advertise a product that works worse than store brands. I never thought I would be bribed into nearly doing that... paid advertising. But I doubt she remembers me. I basically ripped her off. :P... all I can think of is the day they beam advertisements into our brains, like in Futurama. Then you really can't escape the advertising world... :-/

The most common example of this sort of thing that I have noticed recently is - "blah blah... 'Like' us on Facebook to be entered into a competition to win blah..blah...blah. Just go to our page and click 'Like'. Yeah! "

Don't say I'm the only one whos noticed it!!

Edit - really screwed up on the spelling! Too much beer!
