Attention all Miners!

The 4hv Minecraft server is NOT LIVE!

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \/\/\/\/\/

Update Mar 24, 2014

The server is currently down right now. It hadn't seen a lot of activity, and I made a migration to a new facility.
I still have all the data if people want to put it back up, but I have to go through all the plugins and server info to make sure everything is brought back up to date.

If I can get a volunteer(s), I can give them SSH and SCP access to the server now that it is no longer running on my new cloud deployment rather than a shared system in my environment. If people are interested, please PM me. Since SSH access is a privileged system, I am reserving this for established members of 4hv.

I would personally like to get this back up and running. I have been busy with work, classes, and senior design but my time is freeing up a bit so I can sit down and work on it.

If people have any suggested changes to the system, I am all ears. I will likely have to redo some stuff significantly since it has gotten so far out of date, and I know that some of my plugins are not maintains anymore and I need to find replacements.

-Jimmy

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

The server is open to all 4hv users in good standing, all one has to do is PM me with their minecraft handle.
I'll then add them to the whitelist for the 4hv world.

The server is a CraftBukkit server, with a multi-world configuration. many worlds are open for anyone, others (such as 4hv and 4hv-creative) require permissions.

Server's Main Website

Server Address:
nyancat.nom.co
( 108.60.194.42 )

Alternate Server Address:
gawsolutions.us

TeamSpeak Address:
same as the server address
nyancat.nom.co

first, the /rules (which can be viewed at any time in-game by typing /rules into chat, if you have to remind someone)

  • 1a: respect other players and their structures. Refusal to do so will put you in a spawn jail as a first warning, followed by possible banishment after repeated occurrences.
  • 1b: if you must get destruction out of your system, I have created a world for this purpose. Teleport to 'tnt' and feel free to destroy everything there.

  • 2: keep chat and structures PG rated. The chat between worlds is visible to everyone at the moment.

  • 3: Use common sense. It really isn't that hard.

Basic Instructions:

Once you first log in to the server, regardless of whether or not I added you to the 4hv group, you will spawn in the world simply called 'world.'
To teleport to 4hv, type /mv tp 4hv
Similarly, to teleport to the 4hv Creative server, type '/mv tp 4hv-creative'

Worlds Available:

  • world - the first world of arrival and the general public world

  • tnt - the world specifically for destroying things. This world is regenerated often due to the mass destruction of the landscape, including my occasional 110,000 TNT block explosions

  • reddit - This world is public, I had created it after posting the server link to reddit as the landing page. I just decided to leave it up

  • 4hv - I think these last two are self explanatory for here :)
  • 4hv-creative

  • other worlds may or may not exist, and if you want one maybe we can work something out.

Commands:

teleport between worlds:
/mv tp [destination world]

lock/unlock your chests:
/sc [un]lock

add a user to your chests:
/sc add [player]

There are more commands than these, but they are not all fully configured yet.

The commands can be referenced at any time by typing /commands into chat

4hv features:

  • First shelter for those who spawn at night.
  • Free food supplies at the home area courtesy of omjamal
  • A massive and awesome arena, complete with automated Spleef combat area and mob fights, complete with red-stone powered cage and spawning controls!
  • A dedicated Creative server, teleport to '4hv-creative' through the multiverse!

tnt world features:
  • a place where blowing up tnt en masse is not only permitted, it's required!
  • regenerated regularly to make sure it is always fresh for destruction!
  • can place dummy structures there and divert potential greifers!

Well, now that this server is up there's only one thing left to do: use it!

Welcome to our new server!

-Jimmy

P.S: Don't forget to put a sign on the guest wall!

------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------

Current Server Version

CB 1.4.7-R1.0 (pending stability results from players)

Plugins:
NOTE: Starred ('***') items are installed but need more configuration before they are accessible. I am always looking for testers!

Multiverse2-Core
provides the multi-world framework and access control

Multiverse2-Inventory
keeps the inventory separate and managed between worlds

PermissionsBukkit
provides the permissions and group settings for other plugins

SecureChests
Allows players to lock their chests for protection. Includes protection against breaking chests, and ability to specify others who may access it.

BookWorm***
Lets players read and write books, plus some other things.

JailLikeHell
Creates a protected Jail and manages a jailed group. This is what happens to people who don't follow the /rules.
Jailed persons are locked away, with lightning striking their cell every ten seconds, and attacked constantly by a set of wolves but cannot die!
Oh, and the nausea. I always forget about the nausea!

NoCheat+
An Anti-Cheat program designed to look for forged data from clients, and kick them.
Also helps prevent the exploitation of bugs.

LogBlock
Allows rollback and searchable history of destruction and creation of blocks. Used to revert griefer damage.

Antienderman
Used to prevent Enderman from randomly removing blocks.

WelcomeRulezz
The MOTD like message on login, with the ability to type '/rules' and '/commands' in the console

WorldEdit
Massively powerful tool for editing a world. Reserved for Admins, and can release use to some temporarily for permissible reasons.

Backup
Backs up all of the worlds, plugins, and their configurations.

Orebfuscator
Prevents X-Ray vision mods in clients.

Multiverse2-Nether
works out Nether permissions and a dedicated Nether per world, or a shared one upon request

Multiverse2-Portals
allows the making of portals to other worlds with access controls

Vault
helps some plugins interact properly. Not user applicable

Server Specs:

2x Intel Xeon Quad-Core CPUs @ 2.33 GHz
16 GB RAM (4 GB is dedicated to Bukkit's Java instance)
CentOS
100 Mbps Up/Down connection
server is in a secure datacenter environment.

In regards to world edit permissions: possibly.
I'm always a little on edge giving those out, but if I can separate it based on worlds then yes, but otherwise we'll see (and from the looks of it I can't make it world specific). Admins already have this permission, and if it's for a legitimate reason I wouldn't mind lending a hand.

Done. I made a large flat area out of dirt:
175x238x8

Let me know if you need a bigger one or a different material.

P.S: Don't know if it was you, but please reserve TNT explosions for the dedicated tnt world, 'tnt' Unless it is part of an actual creative project

If you're referring to 4hv-creative, that world got griefed with a few hundred minecarts, and also a bunch of tnt. I broke most of the minecarts and used a few tnt to blow up the rest and the item drops. Apparently it recently got griefed with lava and water. I suspect that the permissions are messed up for that world.

They were messed up for a short time period, and I never really go there yet. I never got any notification of a griefer.

If it isn't against anyone's wills, I could regen the 4hv-creative since it doesn't look like anything important is there yet.

Would everyone rather re-gen the 4hv-creative world or clean it up? I don't know if anything there is legitimate structures or not.

From what I can tell, there are no important structures around. Recreating the world is the easiest way.

I ended up using LogBlock and worldedit to fix everything. Turns out WorldEdit has a built in feature for draining water and lava over a large area, and I undid the TNT damage with LogBlock
