Thanks Steve Conner ( scope boy ) one of my HV heros...
I think I have worked it out now, and I do have a prototype working early this morning .. I inclued a lamp in the Collector to ground lead and it light up when I increased the load and went out when I decesased the load - and maintained the set voltage though out . It seems getting the dropper resistor ( 100R in my circuit)
I reduced the 100R resitor to 22R and this worked for One 2955 or a Tip 32C
I will add more TRS and all the other safe guards suggested now I have the scheme clear in my head
