for white LEDs, a tapped winding may be used, extending from terminal 3 to the LED branch (1:N:1 inductor)

push button is used to start the oscillator at very low voltages (may be omitted).
If the circuit doesn't work, try a different current binning (B or C types should be fine, beta and V_CE(sat) may however be correlated)
