Hi all.
Anyone else used this product? Its a 1.3mm diameter wire which changes colout with applied frequency.
I noticed that oven cooking it for about an hour at 90C or higher makes it brighter and less prone to dead spots. Can anyone explain this?
Also ran into problems with my drivers, the peak to peak voltage is 155V but the wire doesen't seem very bright at all at 200Hz rather than 1.5kHz but the driver only draws 3.3mA. Only problem is that for my intended application of wireless powered clock hands it needs to draw less than 20mA per hand.

I also read somewhere that they are making a 2nd generation EL wire where the wires are thinner and coated differently (possibly graphene) which increases the brightness and flexibility. Essentially instead of a single core the wires are 1/10 the diameter and spiral wound around a central non conductive core of glass fibre then coated with either graphene or ITO with the conductor also spirally wound so all of the light gets out. More expensive but:- a) possibility of multiple colours b) By differentially coating sectors with either dielectric or EL+dielectric the wire can flash down its length c) Also possible to use this fibre to amplify the touch sensitivity effect.

I'd previously tried the oven trick and it worked for EL paint from the Luxprint kits. Unfortunately it also made the panel flake off the ITO substrate due to the coating present on the surface. Never did find a fix for this but tin oxide might be.
