Hello guys
I have 2 ionisers that i want to compare. I heard about a technique: pointing the needle to a copper plate and measure the potential between the plate and earth ground with a regular multimeter. Is this true?

That would only determine the peak voltage of the ion emitter and would depend on the distance between that emitter and your plate.
I think overall efficiency would be more determined by airflow over the emitter, aerodynamics of the blower system, and geometry (shape) of the emitter rather than raw voltage. Though if the voltage is rather low it could indicate possible poor performance, I just don't think it would be quantitatively useable data.

I understand ioniser 'efficiency' to mean the total charge 'sprayed' into the air per second .... i.e. output current ... it's as simple as that IF you can measure the output current!
If not then a device as simple as this will show which ioniser is more 'efficient'
