2n2222 is that a typo ?
OMG that's not right! No way that little plastic transistor could handle the power. It has been a while sincle I messed with that circuit. I can't remember which transistor I used, it was very similar to the 2N3055 but handled much more power. This is going to bug me now until I can figure out which one it was.

Could it have been a tip3055? Lol

This has been one of my favorite circuits as well. I used 2N2222 transistors, they really handled the power.

It's been a while since I've been able to tinker with my HV electronics, but I'm hoping to get back into it again before too long.

Wow they are small transistors what was the input and did it heat up much?

It wasn't the 2N2222, it was one of the higher powered MJ's.

My mistake. Sorry for the confusion.

I just assembled the circuit using mje13003's from a CFL board. Used 7+7 turns and 3 for feedback wound
on the inductor of the same CFL. Works well, at 12 volts produces about 550 volts. BTW, the diodes and
toroid also came from the CFL :D, so you can buid a nice PS for small cap charging for almost nothing.

thats okay though the 2n2222 would be good for a little ccfl driver or something like that

wow nice. cfl driver for parts isnt a bad idea u should make a tutorial on utube for beginers i remember opening up a cfl light and only remember there being 1 transistor but that was ages ago :)

Not a bad circuit I managed to get it going with a CFL board as kimbomba did, I have a bin full of them ahah

It was pretty hard but that's because of my soldering iron.

nice how big were the arcs and what was the input voltage? sorry for the late reply:)

In my case there were no arcs at all since the output voltage was less than 1000 volts.

In response to your latest video if the cap you removed was the one across the primery that sets the resinent frequency so removing it will significantly increase the frequency (and increase the pitch) and the bridge rectifier can only handle its maximum rated current with a resonobly large heat sink looks cool tho it looks as powerful as my zvs driver exept min uses 1 flyback I wonder how powerful it would be with 2
