Be extremely careful with the lamp, these can explode violently even when cold.

Try to find the parameters of your lamp and really do not exceed the maximum rated current. The supply must be current limited.
As others said, the ignitors for these lamps use a SGTC-like circuit, possibly with some ferrite in the coils. Such ignition device is visible in this video:

I don't any experience with tesla coils. never even made a SGTC yet.
