Well done. Simple construction, correct insulation, and works. There is a better version of this generator where the output is not taken from the two cans below, but from another set of two cans, that receive water from two additional dripping sources, passing through two extra inductor rings connected to the inductor rings of the main machine. In this way the charges in the cans of the first machine are not used, and the device reaches much higher voltages.

This is a quick and dirty build (but efficient, the most important thing is insulation).
I got up to 5mm sparks. One improvement could be having no sharp edges.

@IntraWinding: most of the electrostatic motors designs I could find were quick and dirty.
But I think my design can be made nice looking. I'm planning to do it... I would just replace
the plastic socle with a nice thick plexiglass plate with polished edges, and use some nice
vintage style brass supports for the electrodes. Most inportant thing for this motor is to have less friction as possible. I used a sewing needle as an axis, and the glass cap of a breakable medicine glass bulb.

@Antonio: This sounds interesting, thanks. I'll try this setup if I build another unit.

@richnormand: That's right ^^ Most of the energy is wasted as heat when the water drops land in the buckets.
