Well, this was my original primary:
YfBqZ
The bottom coil is the new one.
Here's a comparison between the two.

Here's a closeup of the new coil:

My question is, is the new coil OK?
I'm trying to build a SGTC, 7.5kv 30mA NST is my power source, and I will rewind my secondary too to be 26awg (originally 30awg) 16 inch on 3 inch pvc. The old primary was 1/4 inch (20ft) copper tubing, and the new one is about 1/8 inch copper wire (solid core) 20 ft. It is poorly spaced by twine. Is that OK?

Image size >.<, fix it please

also, i would personaly make the coil less warped, one continuous flow going in a spiral on some acrylic or somthing

I have no idea how to resize the image, and I'm on a *very* *very* limited budget. AKA from now on, I have to make do with what I have. Unless I can make one out of wood, I can't make a form for it.

As long as you make sure there are no turns shorting out to an adjacent turn then it should be ok. I guess you could try finding some pieces of wood in your garden (don't cut from living trees unless you really have to), letting them dry out and sawing some groves into them for the primary coil support.

Main point is making sure different turns do not touch.

You must surely be able to get some PVC from your household, like a empty bottle cut in 4 pieces, let the "round" side stick up, cut slices in it for holding the wire.

____/-----\/--\/--\/--\/--\/--\/--¦
------ -----------------------------¦

Also, use a bottle or some other cylindric object to stretch the wire around, if you find some object with the mean diameter of your primary coil, stretch it all to that diameter and its pretty easy to bend it for the smaller and larger diameter when forming the primary.

I would for sure advice against using that failed primary.

Annealing the copper with a blow torch will make it easier to work with (when it cools of course) and I don't think it will make any considerable difference to the conductivity.

If you have a hot glue gun that may also help with correct spacing.

Using a form to spiral the wire around and then stretching it out, as Mads suggested would also help.

Copper wire work hardens, so keep that in mind when you're bending it constantly...
