It's not working, probably because of some stupid mistake. I'm using this circuit: I have 400 turns on the secondary (7/8" diameter pvc pipe) and 12 turns on the primary (toilet paper roll). I don't have a MPSA06 transistor so in it's place I have a TIP31. I can post pictures if needed (maybe I hooked something up wrong?) So far, I'm only getting .5v on the secondary when I hook up the 9v battery

I'm also experimenting with a slayer exciter and have yet to get anything interesting to happen. Tried a few different primaries with a ~300 turn secondary. I'm using a TIP3055 and a 12V zener in place of the diodes in the schematic you posted.
Apparently the primary and secondary have to be positioned just right for anything to happen.

Great, well my secondary is near perfect, I don't know where the primary should be positioned. Hence the toilet paper roll
