I was given a TC secondary by a Sulaiman, it is meant to be driven by a ZVS (
But as my ZVS is just dead (really don't want to rebuild it a third time)
So I'm trying to adapt this circuit ( for it, the TC resonates at 448khz and the 555 drive is say 10-20?Khz (I know there is away of calculating this?) what will I have to do to get the 555 to 448khz?
By putting a 22pF cap in the 555 circuit it will be at resonance? Probably wrong.
Hm, if this really is possible, I'd like to know. I'm building a similar flyback driver, and I'm curious if I could turn it into a mini tesla coil. If it is, what would the specs need to be?

I assume that you are using the 555 as the only frequency input? That means that you won't be able to ground streamers and you better hope your frequency is spot on. You will also need a gate drive ship. Asume it takes .001J to turn the mosfet on. At 500khz this means your 555 is putting out 500W. It will be smaller in reality, but the point still stands. A better option would be a class e coil which greatly resembles you circuit already. Use a ucc chip as an and gate. When both the 555 signal and the feedback are high, the MOSFET will be on. It self resonates at a resonant frequency that can change with loading. Steve wards class e is a great example, or of you want to build it with all low voltage parts and no antenna, uzzors has a pll class e.

Dont. you need a high speed version of the 555 to get past 300khz(rated). use the 555 as the interrupter, and use antenna or ct feetback. trust me, you wont want to deal with keeping the 555 in tune with the coil. i have used a function generator as a feedback source before, and its not fun to keep it in tune. class e is extremely easy to build, more efficient than your version, and it only requires a couple extra parts.

lol, a few months ago I did exactly what you said Not to do, got a 555 up to ~1mhz actually, driving two transistors then a mosfet. got really nice sparks of it for it's size actually... then it burnt a hole in my carpet...

i wont even bother with a scematic just standard 555 timer circuit (google a 555 calculator to get your freq) and into where pin 4 of the 4046 is in this circut is so ignore everything in this but the two transistors the resistor the mosfet and the resonant capacitor.
