I made a thread about my rebuilt ZVS, but it works, but not normally.

It can drive a flyback, but then it makes a very bad noise in the arc.

I can't be used an an induction heater or to drive my ZVS SSTC.

Any ides whats wrong?

Thanks :)

I think we need some more details.
What components are you using?
Are you sure these are working?
Any solder bridges?
Perhaps a picture?

Cheers, Harry.

I'll try to get a picture.

I'm using 25n120's, .57uF 1KV cap. The usual 10kohm resistors and 2 470ohm resistors, 12v 5w zeners, BA159 diodes. And a big PC indcutor.

That's all I can say really. The IGBT's get hot-ish.

And it can drive a flyback but that's it. Any other task and my powersupply hums loudy because it pulls alot of current.

It not the best circuit I've
made. I fail at making them anyway.

i would think its a good idea to up the 470 ohm resistrors the higher the voltage you use so you dont burn out the IGBTs, what voltage are you currently running at?

If you are running more than 40 volts, the tank capacitor is probably too big. For an induction heater, on the other hand, its probably too small... What is the exact model number of the IGBTs? Maybe they are too slow and/or have a high gate charge.

They are k25n120 by infineon. I'm running on 45v but drops to 30 odd.

It can drive a flyback, but nothing else, very weird.

I would guess that your primary/tank coil has too little inductance.

But why can't it work with these IGBT's?

I also have

2x IRFP460A 20A 500V

7x SKW25N120 25A 1200V igbt

4x 30N60 30A 600V igbt

20x RFP40N10 40A 100V

A badly built ZVS by me.

BMuub
I've checked the circuit over and over, everything is the way it should, but it can only drive flybacks ?
