Hi all. I am doing an interesting experiment into electron tunneling in memory cards. It seems that when a sector is reallocated the chip draws slightly more current while writing, and this can be detected and then used to "health check" the card's entire memory array.
The effect happens in all cards, but is more pronounced in certain types than others..
The even more interesting (hypothetical) effect is that when reading back a 1 where the nearby sectors are a 0, it slightly affects the timing in an analogue way depending on the proximal bit values on the multilayer stack.
Can you say "DIY memristor chip with gigabit density" ?
What would be best is if you have any SD/microSD which are more than 128 MB (i.e. fairly recent but otherwise useless for phones) or ones which are faulty but not cracked or where you don't use them for whatever reason , PM me. Feel free to "nuke" them before sending if you want, I usually use Winhex for that. Overwriting with dummy data is also very effective.
Am happy to trade some of the stuff on my previous "for sale" lists, PM me. Thanks!! -A
