I know the value of the capacitor and off the coil. The coil has 16 turns, the capacitor is 7.8 nF.
The coil works but I think it can be better. Is fine-tuning necessary? And how do you do that? Is half a turn of influence on the results? If the answer is yes, I must unwind the coil a bit and it is such a nice coil... smile

Hi,
you should always put tuning taps on the primary of a VTTC, at least on the upper part of it. Single turn tap changes usually make a difference. Your cap seems a bit big to me, you might have better luck with something like 2-4nF and more turns - assuming the coil runs on a non-doubled MOT.
Note: The VTTC tank circuit usually seems to run the best well below calculated unloaded secondary resonance, maybe something like 60-70% of sec. resonance.

Thank you! The tank circuit working best below secondary resonance I did not know that, I will try it!

Why unloaded ?
Isn't it because when you add a topload to the secondary, this will lower its resenance freq. thus matching the 60-70% calculated primary fres ?
