big workplaces like naval workshops, bus workshops, and truck workshops might be a place to buy end-of-rolls of battery cable which can handle a permanent 24V to 48V 150amps

They are most probably fine, however note that contactor contact ratings are typically for AC current and that their DC ratings are usually considerably lower. Also, you may need to use a snubber to prevent the contacts sticking even with AC if you have an inductive load (just like you'd snub a normal switch).
If the contactor has multiple poles, you can up the allowable current by wiring poles in parallel and up the allowable voltage by wiring poles in series (increases air gap) - I did these mods in my can-crusher which used contactors like yours - I used the NO/NC extra poles to implement a lockout to prevent accidental firing & to discharge the caps etc. when power was removed (or lost), i.e. fail-safe...
