I was testing my DRSSTC with audio modulation yesterday and some of the TVS diodes catastrophically exploded and one of the cm300 igbts was bricked. There was 360V on the bridge, and it was playing a semi-demanding song. The only thing I did different in this run compared to others was that the bridge at 360V instead of 330V. It was only on for less than a minute before the tvs diodes blew. The TVS diodes used to protect each collect and emitter were two 1.5KE220CA in series.
My only guess is that the TVS diodes were too low of a power rating. I didn't bother to check if they were hot after they exploded, but the igbt heatsinks were slightly warm to the touch.

440V TVS on a 360V bus is pretty low on the TVS voltage rating. Unless you have excellent phase lead compensation or are incredibly lucky, there will be huge power dissipation if you clip everything above 440V. I'd probably go with 550-600V TVS across it. Also, scope your ringing and see if it is excessive.

so what do you think hapend first the chicken or the egg. when TVS's fail they short. Do you think your cm300 died from being over worked or do think the TVS shorted first? the TVS generaly is saposed to help from forwad voltages across the igbt from going past the max voltage across C and E when it is off wich is generaly 1200v so the tvs could be 12X51v TVS for higher power disiapation. the things that could happen is missed zero cross or parcitics in the primary, ground strike ect. what do you think
