I've just realized my display name has been shortened, is there some new length limit now? I tryed typing in the last "te", but the box wouldn't display it. Anyone else notice this?

I noticed EVR's name was cut off as well. It seems reasonable to assume that a display name length cap has been established.

It happened to everyone with a long name. The limit is not fixed either. In some cases it is 13 letters and in some cases it is 15. There is no warning, it just truncates the name. I think we can call it a buggy feature in the forum software.

Is that like the buggy feature with the read/unread posts?

If variable numbers of letters are truncated, the forum software could well be recognising the kerning difference between e.g. W and I and non-arbitrarily truncating it to match the 100px limit on the avatars...? Or am I overestimating it? hehe

One interesting thing: Quantum singularity seems to also be over the limit but his name is unaffected confused

This must be some kind of pseudoscience... :/

PS. just to try.. I also seem to be able to enter much more characters than 'victims' for now...

I fixed it last night, but ran out of time to tell anyone about it. The new limit should be 25 characters, but keep in mind that "special" characters are usually encoded with URL encoding.
