When you run your tesla coil is it true that you get in inductive reactance from the primary to the secondary? When going from the secondary to the toroid you get capacitive reactance. Since these are each others opposites they counter act each other and this is gives us optimal power transfer

It involves both inductive and capacitive reactance, but the way you describe it, no. If you balance the capacitive reactance with the inductive reactance, you get the frequency of resonance. Resonance is the frequency that an lc circuit oscillates at the highest amplitude.
Do a bit more research though, there is a lot out there. Just Wikipedia alone can tell you all about it. Wikipedia quote:"[resonance is when]At a particular frequency these two reactances are equal in magnitude but opposite in sign"

in a tank circuit electrons slosh back and forward between L and C at the resonant frequency. a tesla is like a kid on a swing. if you bring him to a high place and let him go he will go back and forth intil he is at rest what we do hear is to find ways to push him every time he comes back and add a little energy each time. if you add a lttle energy each time eventualy he would spin around the pole. one peson on end could be the equivalent of running a tesla, DRSSTC, with a half Bridge and aperson on boath ends of the swing is equivalent of afull bridge. other things work like this to like lasers, swings, clock pendulums, with clock pedulums the lengt of the arm detemins the time in each swing and 1/T=frequency
