I'm looking into buying some HV ceramic doorknob caps. It seems to me that they would be more useful than a series parallel arrangement of lower voltage rated polypropylene film caps; e.g., if you get sick of your SG Tesla coil, you can use them in a Marx generator or a voltage multiplier.
Also, at first glance at least, they seem somewhat cheaper than the film caps, on a $/Joule basis.

Why not, if the ceramic doorknobs are appropriately rated for RF current and power losses.
Without any TC experience, I would also suggest special attention to the temperature coefficients. Be sure that your tuning won't be overly perturbed as the capacitors heat up. Non-TC applications (such as HV multipliers, or AC coupling of RF power) are much more tolerant of variations in C.
