I thought maybe the original poster wouldn't care if it sounded like a cheesegrater as for temperature compensation, couldn't you just bring the bias pot out to the front panel?

I've seen some expensive handmade guitar effects that had exactly that, a temperature knob.
There is also the Zvex Nano Amp, where the user manual says: "If the power supply doesn't start, it may be too cold. Try placing it on a radiator for 15 minutes."

Just to tease him a bit :P i bought 12 STE47N50 for cheap and is gonna use them for a large stereo poweramp posting 2x100WRMS at 8 ohms, 2x200WRMS in 4 ohms, 1x400W in 8 ohms bridged and 1x800WRMS into 4 ohms bridged.
I'm already working on having a 1.5kVA donut i have rewound for this project.
