"6.002x (Circuits and Electronics) is designed to serve as a first course in an undergraduate electrical engineering (EE), or electrical engineering and computer science (EECS) curriculum. At MIT, 6.002 is in the core of department subjects required for all undergraduates in EECS."
This is a chance for some members to refresh their theory skills before entering college in the fall. Others may want to sign-up just for fun...
Note that student IP addresses, browser signatures, and page visits will be under close scrutiny. The university wants to adapt the course to improve the learning experience.
The MIT certificate will likely be as useful as a cat-food-tin label, but the experience should be a great introduction to electronics in general.

"Can 14 year olds take the course?"
Its open to anyone with basic integral calculus and physics backgrounds. Unless you are in a private program there is a high probability you haven't covered these subjects yet.
However, at your age I would have audited the course out of curiosity, and to mess with the professors statistics for fun.

@Michael Chen Rates for self-guided study programs is usually in an abysmal 1:17 to 1:23 ratio for successful individuals.
These numbers will be posted within the next few weeks, but one should expect around 8000 out of the 160000 registrations passed if the program was successful.
