Just in case anyone doesn't know about em...
PACs (political action committees) are the groups that campaign for a candidate. They make the commercials you see on television, spam your phone/email, send out flyers etc. Prior to 2010, donations to these committees were limited to $5000 per contributor, and each PAC had to disclose how much money it received from whom.
In 2010, the supreme court's ruling in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission essentially abolished these rules, allowing any entity to contribute as much as it wants. PACs no longer needed to disclose where the money came from until the election was completed, or for that matter whom it came from. These 'Super-PACs' are now essentially, political machines with unlimited funding. Why? Billionaires and Corporations both are 'legal entities', and so they can contribute as much as they want to a candidate who supports their interests. Mitt Romney's SuperPAC now has about 223 million dollars, while Gingrich's SuperPAC has about 15 million (a good portion from casino magnate sheldon addleson). Of course, Mitt Romney is now the front-runner.
Unless the supreme court reverses its decision, these SuperPACs will turn the united states into a one party oligarchy.

Umm, it's actually been a "one party oligarchy" for a long time now. SuperPACs will perhaps streamline the subversion process and make it easier for our Masters to maintain the oligarchy in the face of increasing public awareness and disapproval.
