Is it possible to have a audio modulated ZVS?
I was just experimenting with my ZVS, I made it variable, by using a old motor from a strimmer, and if I one of the wires of the ZVS inputs to the motors brush it can vary.
And when the brush (I think it is the brush, maybe commutator) spins the ZVS arc makes a sound of when the contact is on the motors commutator, sorry if that didn't make sense.

Platinum, yes,it is possible to audio modulate the ZVS driver; however, it is going to be a linear modulator, in the form of a Class A amplifier of sorts feeding the ZVS. It'll get pretty hot, but it would definitely be possible. It would also sound pretty good too, since it's class A modulation.

Is this why my half-bridge plasma speaker's MOSFET's get hotter when it is being audio modulated, becuase it operates more linearly?
Without audio I have 12v on each MOSFET's gate and they take a while to get warm at all, but with audio that changes (its frequency modulated) based upon the specific waveform of the audio which I am guessing means the MOSFET's operate in the linear region for longer?

Audio modulating a ZVS is possible. You PWM the input chokes.
Look at some of the designs for royer oscillators in LCD backlight inverters for ideas on how to implement it. They use this method to regulate brightness of the bulbs.

I wouldn't think so; the gate drive voltage signal should be the exact same, so the MOSFET's should stay the same temp without audio modulation.
What kind of audio modulation does your half bridge use?
The one gren designed here
Frequency modulation I think, there is also a gate drive transformer which might be the cause as it outputs different voltages depending on frequency so when there is audio added it goes all over the place.
On a side note we just had a power-cut here and I could not find my cable I made so I could power my router with one of my 12v battery's. As soon as the power came back on I found it!
