I was experimenting with the ZVS and flyback primary number of turns, normally I use 6+6, but because I have recently got a good PSU (it's somewhere around 40v at 10amps.) I used 2+2 on the core, and I used a pretty long bit of PVC pipe, not damp or anything, and I switched it on, what I didn't realise was I had my hand on my PSU and it's earthed, and the flyback went to my left arm down through to my right arm, luckily my chair kept me from falling.

I thought flybacks can kill at this power?

Anyway I generally feel weak, and I have a nice burn on my thumb.

A standard flyback is 1-5mA, this is given normal conditions. Once you add ZVS to the factor, they can kill you depending how much power your actually pushing. Obviously, theres factors of resistance that could possibly save your life, skin resistance, surface, etc. If you were pushing poower to get like huge arcs, then yeah, for sure. But, its like people who get hit my lightning, theres times you can survive. If you couldnt let go you know its > 10-20mA. But...People can take hits from higher power, 50mA as most claim to be death, doesnt ALWAYS mean death, its just very likely, and some do live it.

But, still always keep things in mind. I sure very hope you learn from this lesson because you could have been lucky, and it could have been enough to kill under slightly different situation. When i arc this stuff, or even mots, My hand is always on a variac dial. But, im using 2ft+ PVC pipe. Whiped down, checked for carbon tracing, etc....how long of arcs, and how long of pipe?

Id agree to this...Many shocks not always good thing to hear... Ive been doing HV for 3 years and only got hit once, and that was due to using a mot, forgetting to discharge the resonance cap, and when i poured water on the on-fire-PCB, i was shocked. From then on it engraved my brain, Always... Discharge...Resonance caps.

I was shocked once in my life in 9th grade while working on a Tesla coil primary. I was touching it with one hand and didn't unplug the cord. My knee knocked the switch and I made a weak path to ground through my jeans. The point is I learned from my mistake and nothing like this has ever happened again. Whenever possible, I use an isolation transformer when dealing with high energy levels in case I still do something stupid. In this case, I would not be grounded. Fortunately, I have not done anything stupid ever since.

You might want to consider what you are overlooking. You next shock could be your last.

Platinum, I'd suggest doing some much needed reading on electrical safety before you continue tinkering with electricity. Your not gonna be so lucky one of these times.
