Eh, I was bored today, and I knew my little sister had her old camera lying around.
I had some 80 mW IR LEDs also hanging around, so I got to work.
I removed the IR filter, which was really really easy to do. Took out the 8 or so screws from the camera, popped the front of the camera off, and removed the lens assembly... Then I just pushed the filter right out!
After that I got to work putting the LED assembly together, which was put together using a little perfboard, and 1 3.8 ohm resistor. It's powered off of two AA batteries, and overall, is pretty bright, with 8 LEDs total. It draws 800 mA.
