I have one of those fluorescent backlights from a laptop computer, and I understand they need pure AC to run properly. Using a big flyback transformer to drive such small lights doesn't make too much sense, so I thought about camera flash transformers.
They have a decent step up ratio, and ought to be able to supply enough current to light the bulbs effectively;
However, I noticed that the driver that comes with the transformer fails to output pure AC, instead, it's more of a flyback transformer pulse.
Due to it not being center tapped, this certainly complicates using a ZVS driver; and I don't have two identical inductors to use either.
Is there some other driver I could use, that gives out a sine wave useful enough to drive the little transformer?

you could try the little hv transformers that are found in the monitors/laptops (the ones that originally supplied the backlights) you can buy boards to power the lights for ~$5 too.
