OK, catching a falling plane IN MIDAIR????!!!! That guy must have cojones the size of dinner plates.
I heard a good one the other day, seems that they were troubleshooting an intermittent RS232 network fault around start of work and lunch times as well as evening shifts. They traced the problem to the use of the lift, however there didn't seem to be any direct correlation so an engineer was sent to "ride the lift a few times"
Lo and behold same problem. So they did some more checking and found a segment of cable had been routed by a lazy contractor THROUGH THE LIFT SHAFT between floors rather than the shielded conduits. When that noisy motor on the lift went past it drove the network insane with false packets and noise.
Not as bad as the "chicken bomb". Seems that the early nuclear devices were prone to cold induced malfunction. So a plan was hatched to use chickens installed next to the sensitive parts of the bomb to keep them warm with body heat. As it happens this turned out to be inadequate so they ended up using a modified radioisotope generator if memory serves. After that the sensitive components were replaced with parts rated down to -40 Celsius!!!

I don't know about the chickens, but it is a matter of public record that the early British nuclear bomb designs cut major corners in safety and practicality, in order to get to "market" quickly.
Some of them did indeed have to be stored in air-conditioned hangars, and what is more worrying, couldn't be armed or disarmed in flight, so an aircraft on a mission would have to take off and fly over Britain with a live megaton-class bomb.
The RAF were so scared of the things that they refused to fly with them or even transport them assembled by road. If the day ever came that they had to drop one, it would probably have been a farce.
