How they now have digikey-type prices... and 642 capacitors. Are they actually putting the radio back in radioshack? Or is this a gimmick to sell cameras?

Maybe they'll give out free capacitors with the purchase of a cell phone!
They are probably finally catching on to the fact that knowledgeable people are coming
into their stores looking for parts they had back in the day only to have them leave
in a storm of cursing because the pimple faced kid at the counter only knows how to
teach grandma how to retrieve her voicemail. Sorry for the run on sentence.
If they finally take full use of their proctologist Radio shack might make a well needed
comeback.

I think one needs to be knowledeable about circuits before being hired there. This one time, I went there to get some parts and I had shown the lady a very simple 555 flasher and I said I need these parts, and she had no clue what I was talking about. she just knows where the parts are. Also she barely spoke english.

Actually the foreign staff where I work are nice, and quite knowledgeable about technology.
Trying to explaining "tesla coil" got me a few laughs though.

Nearly all of them are "web only". They have digikey-type prices because they buy from Digikey, slap their return address on the box and mail it to you.

For those prices, you're better off just stocking up on these:
