This guy's been around a long time, originally calling his company "Lightning on Demand". He's had a project for a humungous pair of TCs in a footbal stadium kicking around for years, but conventional funding had vanished with the recession. So this seems like a logical move.
Their budget includes $72k, for 48 CM600HB-90H IGBTs as their low power starter, to be increased to 72 later.
Statement of affiliation: I have no connection with this outfit whatever, apart from a shared interest in things that go crackle-zap.
On a random note, the title of the thread reminds me of something. In my book (which Tesla Coils are strongly prominent) the group that runs a similar program to Arc Attack, and has giant tesla coils, their name is Tesla Twins... Hee hee.. but 72k for igbts? um... I don't know much about any transistors, but... that seems like a bit much....
