Hi all.
Tried my hand at the DIY tin plating solution made from thiourea, stannous chloride and H2SO4.
Not sure why it doesen't work, the Tinnit notes mention that it has to be near boiling ?! The resulting solution is cloudy and rapidly precipitates out white crystals..
I am using silver cleaning solution as a source of thiourea, so this is one possible unknown.

I'd suggest ascertaining the boiling point of 'your mixture' first.
I've found jam thermometers are good for electrolytes when measuring temperatures up to 200°C or more. (glass and stainless steel, or remove the stainless backing plate, and just use the glass bit)

the tinning soluations i have seen work at room tempature galvanicaly, you often find such soluations in tatoo shops as they use the soluation to tin the ends of the needles to solder them to there guns..............Would be nice to find out how to replicate that trick because you can tinn almost anything including Aluminum...
