yes, it's nuts smile I've been to the Isle of Man several times, but for the Manx Grand Prix not the TT. The Manx is similar, same circuit etc but no Mad Sunday like the TT.

The TT now includes an electric race, the TTX grand prix - it's fairly recent and I went to a lecture at a local university a couple of years ago by one of the professors who was involved in the r&d side of things.

If you're into bikes it's a good laugh, great atmosphere during the TT and the Manx, there are always accidents though as during the day bikers ride the course whilst the roads are open, and there is no speed limit over the mountain!!

There was an old Isle of Man TT Haiku, something along the lines of:

Around every corner
there's a stone
wall waiting...

I've done the IOM twice... Once on my production racer RD400 and once on a GSXR1100G in the 80s.
Both Mad Sundays I scared the life out of myself when a wall or curbstone decided to be in "my" line :o)
Would I do it again? Never!
The riders today have more balls than anyone and good luck to them.
I'll stick to 1/4 mile.
Cheers.

I was there for the TT races in 1971, only 19 years old and riding a Kawasaki A7SS just like this one: Link2,r:9,s:0

We were smart enough to sightsee by foot on mad sunday, but even on the other days, when we did the course in just under one hour, it was scary enough to meet with a german guy going around the wrong way round.
I still remember the thrill of cornering at Ramsey Hairpin, where the high exhausts of the Street Scrambler made it possible to lean over quite fiercely. These were the days of Mike Hailwood on Honda, Giacomo Agostini on MV Agusta and both Phil Ried and Bill Ivy on Yamahas. Phil Reid was my hero, and I did everything I could to look like him. Those were the days.....

Cheers, Finn Hammer

You got a few years on me Finn. I was only 8 in '71
My heros were the late Barry Sheene and King Kenny Roberts in the late 70s.
Back then I was racing speedway bikes.
Ron Haslam was my TT hero if you can call him that, in the 80s when I was racing production Yamahas and TZ Yamahas.
And who can forget Freddie Spencer. 250 and 500 champ in 1 year...
Happy days... Cost me a lot of dry cleaning bills.
