I wouldn't say it's unreachable. If you had the funds you could certainly build a coil that big.

The main problem I would say is power.... They are going to need a small power station to run that beast!!!

I wish them luck, I would love to see it run. smile

The design of the prototype seems rather unconventional for a disruptive discharge Tesla coil. There appears to be a small number of turns for the primary coils and the toroids seem disproportionaly small. Am I missing something here?

The resonant frequency will be in the audible range, I guess the system's going to make quite a sound...

Unless they make it with a supper small tank cap and a supper high Z suprised "What's that you say the primary Z is higher than the secondary's? Well how did that happen?!?!?!?" tongue

"What is our other option? Well... a Fres of 100Hz...." hehe

It's funny you pointed that out, I'm cracking my self up now with the only two options they have!

One other thing, that house in the diagram is going to have FCC part 15 violation stickers all over it. Hope the people in that house are not watching TV when that thing turns on, because forget about the TV blowing up... it's going to knock the TV satellites right out of orbit!!!

Hm, I wonder if he's going to use 10kV grid directly for his power supply? (would be far more reasonable for this design than thousands of amps at 240V AC). What kind of permissions does one need to make such a tap?

it may be possible to use a locomotive to power one.
