To wrap up the cold fusion deal, here is an example which should give you folks an idea of the unlikeliness of a net energy producing LENR device.

You are all probably aware of the Farnsworth Fusor.
It is a nuclear Fusion device that been around for decades, and similar devices have found applications as nice clean Neutron sources in various fields.

Deuterium or Tritium ions are accelerated towards each other (or in some cases at a Deuteride target), at fairly low energies (50-100keV) and occasionally a fusion event occurs and releases a neutron.
These Neutron generators typically produce something on the order of 1 million plus neutrons per second, which in the scheme of things isn't really a lot of energy at all, all things considered, and is miles away, from break even, never mind net energy.

Nuclear fusion is extraordinarily difficult, even in nature! If you ran the above 1 million neutrons/sec fusor, and used plain old Protons, instead of Deuterium or Tritium, you would have to run it for approximately 100 times the age of the Universe to observe a single fusion event!

The chances of a proton proton reaction are thus vanishingly small, and the only reason Stars burn Hydrogen at all, is because of the sheer mass of Protons available to take part in the reaction. (which actually progresses very very slowly). If Fusion was easy, Stars would never have formed at all.

The most successful fusion devices built to date, are unfortunately, Thermonuclear Weapons, and even in this case, where the DT fuel mix is highly optimized, and all the power of a Fission primary is available, the Fusion portion of the device is horribly inefficient.

you are probably right about the anyone did conjecture with the pdf I did buy it myself as the size of the electrode was to small for the reported energy level, but It is in fact true that Platinum group metals absorb more hydrogen close to there melting temperature and in liquidity, but has nothing to to do with the formation of ionic hydrides. the proof of this is in the catalytic converter of every car. Its the high temperature ability of palladium, platinum and rhodium to rob and release hydrogen from carbon and to some extent oxygen that drives the conversation reaction. If these metals did not have a positive temperature coefficient in relation of there affinity for hydrogen we would have no catalytic converter, or we would have to pre-cool the gases from the engine prior to entering the converter. In fact we would not have much of an industrialized society if not for this affinity.
