...that Tesla is a girl's name? Other than the inventor, everyone else I've seen on blogs and forums that has that as their legal name is a girl. Inventor> Band > Parents of the 70s gone wild with the band> Girl? Why not the boy?

I think it's just because in our society girls names usually end with an "a" if it ends with a vowel. If a boy who didn't know anything about Tesla had his name, I'm sure he wouldn't be happy. I've never met anyone with that name, but I did know a girl who's name was Teslin

Yes, I have noticed that you're sort of random. And no I'm not Steve Ward from Arc Attack.

Tesla is a family name like Smith, Jones, Macgregor, Kelvin, Watt or Turing. (His first name was Nikola though which sounds vaguely girly.) Family names don't come in male and female versions, except in Iceland, where they have some system so confusing that the phone books have to be organised by first name.

For younger readers, a phone book is like the contacts list in your cell phone, but with a bunch of people you don't know too.

Not in a phone book. And i mean, that their first name was Tesla. On another forum, I've seen like 3 teslas all of them girls. So I guess it isn't weird for me to ask people to call me that. but I have to tell them its after the scientist, not the band. :P then... are you the steve that makes the Zeusaphone coils?

Are there people who really don't know what a phone book is? I would find that to be a little depressing

So ...your speaking about people like this young woman ,Tesla Sharpe . Her parents named her after Nicola Tesla
( she says she would have preferred Nicola as a a first name rather than Tesla)

Link2

I then wondered what interest there was with Tesla as a babys name and came up with this

Link2

So HighVoltageChick is on the money here. But to be honest, it escaped my attention till she pointed it out.
