I just tried it with copper and it works perfectly for that metal, too. I guess the black body radiation curve is the same for all metals?

Look up Planck's law of blackbody radiation. To my understanding the material itself doesn't matter in determining the frequency of the light output.

Heh. Same here, I use to have an iPod touch 4 gen and switched to android for reasons. I wont go back unless they fix stuff.

Sounds like a coil thing for someone to try though

Pretty clever, thanks for posting this.

Fair enough, if you had to pay for equipment its only fair to charge something for the app.

I have an idea here for an Iphone app, PM me.

Also, it occurs to me that you could probably use an Iphone camera + diffraction grating to make
a spectrometer as well.
