I've been working on my DRSSTC and finally got it up and running. It uses cm300s and I have the OCD at 300A at the moment. With 200V on the primary, the streamers don't look like a nice lightning bolt shape, but more of a lightning bolt with a lot of streamers coming out of it. It makes a hissing sound that a tuned tesla coil does not. I've tried moving the tap all around on the primary, but the streamers get smaller, so I know i have the tap in the right place. Now i'm wondering if this can be caused by incorrect coupling. I tried raising the secondary, but the streamers get really short. Is there any easy way of moving the secondary down or do i have to redo my primary? Are my issues even caused by incorrect coupling?

For a big DRSSTC this is a very high coupling. In my 12 foot spark tesla coil, that uses cm300 too, I have a coupling factor of 0.125. Is normal the strange streamers with low voltage. Even 400v my coil don't produce more than 1 foot but when the voltage rises up to 600v become something like +11 foot.
