right now I am working on a drsstc circuit that would work any whare from 0 to 5mhz. I have got the ZCS and steering logic up to 3Mhz and 5 might take a little tinkerring. Right now I don't know if my fet driver and fets will be fast enough, will test soon. I started out designing a standard drsstc and then decided to take it to the next levle. I don't know if it is pausible or if it will work. My question is what does anybody think the coil look like. according to the wavelength formula the winding would be 196 ft long wich is aproching a hielical resonator. What would the aspect ratio i.e. hight vs width be and what might the wire gauge be for spaceing resons. At this point I think that designing a tesla is just as hard as designing the electronics. what do you think N.B.

Although you may get the logic to work up to 3MHz, you are not going to get a DRSSTC working at those frequencies, even with MOSFETs. The switching losses alone, would kill your devices almost instantly.
You might be able to squeak by at 1MHz, possibly and with lots of luck, but above that, i personally don't think its possibly without exotic parts and a pretty complex drive scheme.

I know DRSSTC is a very different concept, but if it's any motivation, I've been able to blast >100W at more than 3.5MHz with a class-E setup:
I can't see how you could use this topology with a DRSSTC though -- the turnoff will be especially tricky. EVR is right -- it definitely won't be easy... how much time do you have? ;-D

IGBTs are completely useless at these frequencies. I guess with a full-bridge of MOSFETs instead of IGBTs, carefully tuned to work in Class-DE, you could crank out a couple of kW at 5MHz. If you don't know about Class-DE, better crack some books, starting with Ian De Vries' PhD thesis.
