Today most SSTC designs are "self tuned".Is it possible to build a self tune VTTC?Why no one ever build one?

Hi, the VTTC IS a self tuning circuit, it tunes to the resonant frequency of the tank circuit. At this point the oscillator has the highest efficiency. If you wanted it to tune to the resonance of secondary, you would need to use an electronic feedback circuit which would pulse the tube at the secondary resonant frequency, but you would lose efficiency and the plate would get red quickly.
