I wish I had a MOT. I so badly want a MOT. MOTs are pretty and so are their arcs. My dad isn't dumping any of our old microwaves though. So... SOOOOOOON. Until then, I'll just use my NST for a crappy jacobs ladder and ghetto fail coil. XD however keeping it outside on halloween meant getting 10 people wanting to touch it, and 1 person actually knowing the name, and everyone actually thing=king that its REALLY high voltage... of course they think that mains is high voltage too... LOL

I'm afraid of MOT's, though, and I'm 17.

There's just something about 2 kV at half an amp that scares the bejeebus out of me, so...Keep that in mind.

I am a electrician, I often come by components that are getting thrown out. All the MOTs come from a single visit to a recycle station, a colleague of mine picked up 30 microwave ovens and after a while he gave it all to me :)

Beautiful but dangerous, huh? Haha, just be careful with them. They REALLY do kill, and will not get any 2nd chances with them.

I don't have any unfortunately, and where I live the nearest recycling center and scrap yard do not let you take anything (stupid health and safety).

Actually I could of got hold of one when my mother got a new microwave but unfortunately the old one had been taken to the recycling center long before I even knew we had a new one!

If you're in the UK, just ask on Freecycle in your local areas. They're given away daily in the SE England.
If I get them, I make stacks of 10 magnet "springs" using the doughnut magnets from the magnetrons all mounted on dowel and give them away to the local kids.
I've stopped collecting the MOTs and the local drive by scrap merchant takes the rest from the driveway.
Maybe I should rescue the trannies again and offer them here?
Cheers.
