Longest time you can run a ZVS for?

Heavy switching requires caps that have high dv/dt.
Metalized caps have poor dv/dt. Typical dv/dt are in the range of 10~200 V/us.

Old caps FOIL/PAPER or FOIL/POLY are good.

How about using the microwave oven caps, 0.75~0.95 microfarads ?? microwave caps are FOIL/POLY/PAPER /OIL. you can get from scraped microwave ovens.

Guys thanks, I got those capacitors from maplin ( Link2 ) in the end and although they also get warm it worked fine for my purpose of 3 minute runs.

Here is what I used it for;

Aluminium electrodes that melt like sparklers when subjected to the heat of ZVS arcs, of-course no-one in my family was impressed and the only remark I got was "Wouldn't it just be easier to use a candle?".

Warning! There is a screamer at the end of the video!

must have smelled horrible, I can't quite imagine the stench of nitrated and cyanogenated carbonaceous pumpkin matter..........LOL
