Ok i am building my first TC, it will be a SSTC first, then i will likely go DRSSTC

first a little background on me, i am an electronic engineer and have experience with SMPS and embedded control.

I have build my own driver board which has a full bridge fet, with max 90 Vin and 180amp fets(say75+ if i keep them cool)
the supply i will be using for now in a xantrex 60V 46 amp dc supply

i have used Javatc to come up with a good design.
6 inch secondary with 1020 turns of #23 heavy enamel wire(built)
top load i just finished is a 14 gauge aluminum 25 by 6 torriod
primary is 1/4 tube with 6 turns( will be using about 5) in a cone shape
coupling is about .21
for my mmc i bought 942c20p15k-f's which seem to be the ones to get(i have 50)
needed cap is .15

so i am thinking say a 6p/6s combo for the mmc with spares, or am i better just to go 7&7?
is it a good idea to put clamps the caps to prevent over voltage, or just bleeder resistor?
is series strings in Parrnell better that parallel groups in series?

there is 3/4 of the secondary former left at the top, is that ok to have the torriod that far away?
i was thinking of laser cutting an end cap and putting a small bolt in it to connect the end of the secondary to the top load.
what is a good idea here?

the base is 3/4 HDPE(top and bottom) that i had laying around , about 22x22 9 inched in between them
i have al side plates and was thinking of putting some thin al sheet on the inside of these 2 plates to sheild the bits inside, good idea?

thanks for the help

ok i made the mmc as 7 strings of 7 in parallel and put 20Mohms across each cap. then fed it to our rlc meter at the expected operating frequency of 150khz, it comes in at 170nf not 150nf. it is bang on at 1khz. should i just ignore this, ie will they get closer to 150 when loaded?

thanks agin

ok I assembled the mmc to primary, much closer to 150nf when i remeasured it(shorter leads to mmc from rlc meter. Powered it up running 145khz, getting 12 inch arcs with 2400 watts input. but i blew my bridge driver and a fet. I think when i removed power ( i have a group of 3 contactor relays interrupt power to bridge) the bridge experienced a spike in voltage.

is it standard practice to turn the bridge voltage down before turning it off??
