Hey guys,
I wanna ask you how old you were, when you build your fist TeslaCoil.
I don´t know if this forum category is right, because it could be posted to "general discussion" too.;)
But it doesnt matter.

How old were you, when you build your first TC?
and
How old you should be to build a TC?

I built my first coil, sgtc, two years ago, so when I was 17. Which is the same age I started electronics and high voltage. I made my first sstc two years ago also. Age 16 I didn't know what a capacitor or transistor was :)

When i first built a tesla coil?
hmm....i was about 34 when i came across Richie Burnets excellent site,
i was hooked and built my first SSTC coil.
Over the next 11 years have made a sgtc and five DRSSTC's
of various sizes.
Unfortunately due to health problems, its now on hold,
but i sure miss building coils and going to Teslathons!

I started when I was thirteen. It sort of worked, though not in entirety. It was a SGTC with VERY crappy capacitors. I got offered free caps from Kizmo, (thank you so much Kizmo!) and when they come, I will finish project. So I guess you can say 14. I am 14 now. :P

I built my first non functioning one when I was 13. First crappy SGTC when I was 14. First Good SGTC when I was 15. First SSTC when I was 16. I am now 20!

I think there is no age limit to building tesla coils, just knowledge limit. If you know how to work around high voltage and how to use basic hand tools, you can do it!

I'm 14 and half way through my SGTC project, I expect to finish it in the end of year holidays after my exams :s so I guess 14?

Edit: I completely agree with good child, as I myself started electronics when I was around 7-8 aswell as lots of mechanical stuff (woot Lego technic!!!!). Actually I think that being at school would also make the whole tc business easyer. Cos for me the physics teacher at my school really likes me and he'll even ask me what electronics he should spend his budget on! Lol!
