I rebuilt my sstc with some big 30amp 500volt fets, currently Im inputting about 2-3amps on 120volt and getting about 1 inch brush discharges, but a noticed that the fets are heating a little, I'm a little scared to give it any more power I fear that the fets will fail as they were expensive! What would cause fets to heat at such low power. if you need specs pics ect. just let me know! I have the feeling it could be incufienct voltage to the gate, because these transistors switch at quite high power

Are the switching speeds of the transistors sufficient for your application? Do you switch the gates fast enough? Most likely what you're seeing are switching losses.
What is the part number you use and switching frequency?

Ok the part # to the fets is IXFH30N50P, As far as frequency My test equipment is so old I don't not have the ability to test the exact frequency and voltage with it, but I know its in the 100khz to 300khz range
edit: After staring at the wave form for like 2 hours I figured out the fets at doing a shoot through.
