Hi again!
I will be buying some NST’S from a surplus store. I am taking my ohm meter to be sure I don't get a dead one! (they will not plug one in for me) I know how to check the primary, but can someone tell me how to check the mid point grounded secondaries? What is a good reading from each side to ground and, especially, should I get any reading at all between the two secondary terminals?

I'm not sure of the exact resistance but it's probably pretty high. Could even get up into the kilo-ohms. Anything over 100k ohm is almost certainly damaged or dead.
You can measure the secondary by going from pole to earth, then other pole to earth. Or, pole-to-pole should be twice the resistance of the previous measurements.
Or if you simply want to test one, run a short wire from one end of NST to air, a longer wire through the little hole on the end of a ruler, and short it, drawing an arc. that is how I tested mine. if it doesnt work, return it and complain it didn't work.
