I was going through a blog of DIY progects and found one called the dixispheare . Some one figured out that party cups act like a trunkated cones and can be arranged in several diffrent ways to form a sphere. It seemed simple enough and I had the 11$ to buy cups. It took about 5 hours to complete because plastic cups aren't too forgiveing and I didn't want to crack or crush any of them. Pictures linked below.
Now my dixisphere was kinda cool but I would like to know, what other pointless endeavors do the 4HV members get up to?
*edit* thank you for pointing out the broken links

The links worked for me. Nice art piece I think! Maybe a good name would be "Physical Manifestation of Spare Time." I don't know how a tesla coil is any more or less useless than that, but I guess the most truly useless thing I ever did was give myself a tiny tattoo on my ankle when I was in seventh grade.

I think the most pointless thing I ever did was read Buckminster F*cker's blog. I jest. he's actually a pretty good writer, not to mention having the coolest nick I ever saw anywhere.
The giant egg slingshot I built with my brother one easter comes a pretty close second in pointlessness, though.

Pointless things I've done...
Similar to steve, I built a fruit launcher once with a mate at his house. It started off as a simple thing that you hit with a rock to catapult the fruit into the air. Then we started climbing onto the wall and dropping progressively larger rocks onto it, eventually we re-built it and it was powered by a hinged railway sleeper(!) That thing shot old potatoes and apples out of sight. Pointless, but fun - that was many years ago.
Going back even further, we used to smash up old appliances in my shed to get all the 'cool' things like electric motors and magnets. Large heatsinks and power transistors were not cool back then
